Before covid, I had a home office. We had a larger home with extra bedrooms so I was able to have a space of my own. During covid we moved to a much smaller home to save money so the dining room became my office. I could see everything that went on in the main areas of our house – the front door, living room, kitchen, hallway to the bedrooms – all of it. And my husband’s office was diagonally across the living room from mine. Oh and my teenaged boys were home doing online school.
Anytime anything happened in the rest of the house, it was happening within my office. I give it 1 out of 5 stars.
I love having the energy of other people, but being interrupted while writing code or doing some tedious tech makes the prickly cactus side of me pop out, so one day my husband gently suggested that maybe I would like to rent some office space outside the home.
I’ve had my own office space ever since. There are a few times I’ve thought it was unnecessary and frivolous but Chris always responds with, “you should keep your office.” Message received. 🤣
At the beginning of this year I moved into a larger office in the same space I’ve been in for 2 years. It sits on a corner in our cute little downtown with 4 windows and majorly distracting views. It’s perfect for me and I no longer think silly thoughts about giving it up.
Here are pics of the new space. I’m going to order some wall decals to go behind my desk so it isn’t so bland behind me when I’m on calls with clients. I love the stand-up desk and want to add a walking pad underneath it. I bought that bright green door when we lived in Belgium. I have no idea what it went to or where it came from but it brings in some great color and I suppose I could have fun making up stories about what it used to go to…..
